When was dora the explorer invented

Everything from Dora's iconic bob and pink shirt, to the theme song, and quotes from the children's show are recognizable, which made the series an instant hit. Kids everywhere tuned in to follow along with Dora's adventures and help her solve mysteries. The interactive series allowed kids to solve puzzles and learn Spanish all while enjoying the entertainment. Like most children's shows, there was an important educational aspect to the show.

As the years went on, the show's creators did their best to keep Dora on viewers TV screens. At one point they even created a teenage version of the character for the kids who were growing up alongside her. Some will remember the Dora the Explorer computer games on the Nick Jr.

There is also countless amounts of merchandise still beloved by fans to this day. The year-old was fired from the show in , and claimed that Nickelodeon had her sign a bad deal in Representatives for Nick disputed those claims vehemently. Before Dora made her official debut on Nick Jr. Promoting Dora virtually enabled fans to get excited about her series and learn more about her before it began.

This was the first character to premiere online, as opposed to on a television series. It makes sense, because part of the show's premise is that the viewer is sitting at a computer screen -- hence the blue arrow icon. Dora Marquez was an instant hit among kids, and after its premiere, the series was ranked the number one pre-school show on television.

Kids just couldn't get enough of the little girl, her best monkey pal, and the rest of her friends. Dora the Explorer 's premise was simple: Dora went on adventures and needed the viewers help to get to the end goal.

Over the course of the series, it's shown that there's more to Swiper's character than an urge to swipe things. In one episode it was revealed that Swiper has a soft spot for puppies, and in another that he likes Cowboy cookies.

In a few episodes, he expresses feelings of joy with a fox-like cry of, "Yip-yip-yippee! Also in this episode, it's revealed that Swiper doesn't speak Spanish, and wishes that he did.

The interaction between Dora and the antagonistic fox also reveals the kindness and grace of Dora's character. In one episode, " Dora's Dance to the Rescue ", Swiper took pity on a Dancing Elf who was caught in a magic bottle, similar to a genie.

The elf tricked the sympathetic Swiper into removing the bottle's cork, thereby releasing the elf and his talking cane. Unfortunately, the wily fox was thereby entrapped in his place. Stuck and desperate, Swiper called out to Dora and Boots. The remainder of the episode chronicled an epic adventure involving most of the land's creatures, eventually ending with the release of Swiper after a dance contest.

The episode was atypical as it involved many dances and songs, demonstrated a close, un-conflicted relationship between Swiper and the other creatures, and had Dora refer to the elf in an uncharacteristically judgmental way "Mean Elf". In this and several other episodes, Swiper finds himself captured, trapped or in some sort of trouble.

Despite his history of mean-spiritedness towards Dora and Boots, she demonstrates that the fox is her friend which he doesn't find out until " Dora's World Adventure! In " Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure ", another atypical episode, Swiper's love of swiping ends up getting him on Santa's naughty list, when he fails to head Santa's warnings about swiping on Christmas.

At first, everyone dismisses what has happened, but Dora immediately insists on helping Swiper. After asking Santa if she can do something, Santa sends Dora and Swiper on an epic quest through time to help Swiper get off the naughty list.
