A trip to Samford and back can quite easily be done in half a day, but with so much to do in and around the village, solo travellers, couples and families may like to set aside a full day to explore the hidden gems in the area and simply enjoy the scenic, countryside drive.

Samford has got something for everyone. Purchase local farm fresh produce and explore bespoke cottage businesses. You might even get to meet Arran, Millen Farms resident Farmer! These days though, the only thing worshipped at The Flying Nun is incredible food. The kids will be fascinated to see the slab and shingle school, imaging what life was like before computers and iPads as they attempt to use a slate pencil. Samford Village itself may be small but contains a decent stash of preserved heritage buildings, a fascinating history museum, gourmet character cafes, a century-old pub, old-fashioned Saturday country market, fantastic playground and quaint slab hut peddling local arts and crafts such as handmade patchwork quilts. Take a heritage stroll around the village, starting at the John Scott Park with its spacious adventure playground which was once the site of the Samford Railway Station and goods yards.

Turn left into Main St and on the other side of the street is the Samford Valley Hotel whose main building hails from The landmark neighbouring Farmer's Hall was towed here from Lutwyche and became the social scene hub from the end of World War I, while Cash Avenue alongside was once part of the Samford Railway Line, with some of the embankment still intact.

Little Tree Bakehouse - This gorgeous cafe and bakehouse is set in a rainforest off the main street, featuring a terrace overlooking a running stream and serving up delicious premise-baked eats.

Dropout Espresso — This hip little joint on the main street churns out coffee and light meals that alone make the trip from town worthwhile.
